60 % corn S rate sites were responsive to S application.  Especially coarse textures, sideslope landscape, low organic matter, eroded soils, no-tillage, reduced-tillage, alfalfa prior crop, no manure application, no S applies in fertilizers.  There was a 19 bu/acre increase for responsive sites.

Sulfur application rate when needed: alfalfa topdress 20 to 30 lb S/acre and corn 15 lb S/acre for fine textured soils or 25 lb S/acre for coarse textured soils.
