Reported Results:

This study indicates that large applications rates of by-product gypsum can be useful for alleviating soil acidity as indicated by the decrease in the extractable Al. By-product gypsum was more effective than pure gypsum because of the fluoride content present in the by-product gypsums. Also, the hydrofluorogypsum was much more effective than the phosphogypsum because it has a higher fluoride content than the phosphogypsum. In addition to the gypsum application, the removal of Al is also dependent on the leaching regime. The laboratory and greenhouse results indicate the potential for increased plant growth.
